Hexacon 35 East German SLR Nice!

Hexacon 35 East German SLR. with Biotar type pre-set 2.0 lens.
This is Contax D Camera made by East German Zeiss & intended to be sold as a "Pentacon" in the west. The nameplate was added by Peerless Camera.

Please be advised that this camera was imported by Peerless Camera of NYC.
In the late 1950's.
They were required to deface the Biotar Name from the lens & the Red T.
Because those names were owned by the West German Zeiss companies.
Peerless Camera of NYC imported these directly bypassing the East German Distributers in the USA & sold them as Hexacons.
The shutter on this camera is slightly above the usual { not working at all} conditions of these cameras. The body of this camera is very nice.
This camera has a piece of Cold War History involved in it!
